Weekday devotionals for Christians

Miserable-continued

Pro 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Pro 3:8
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Pro 4:22
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Psa 43:5
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

The following are spiritual things that are pointed out to me that is a good reminder of what happens to us when we are sick and sin-sick:

1. It took a process and time to get me to this miserable point.
2. I was taking medicine that worked at first, but now is no longer effective.
3. My condition got so bad that I am miserable.
4. I will not get better until I go to the Doctor.

5. I had to be totally honest with the doctor about what was going on in my life.  Even though he could probably tell what my problem was; he could not properly help me until I was honest with him and told him everything.  The real Doctor is Jesus, and He does know what your problem is; but He cannot help you until you are 100% honest with Him.  Guess what?  He already knows, so just tell Him and you can start the process of healing.

6. After I told him everything, I had to shut my mouth and listen to him.  Sometimes we are so wrapped up in telling what we think we need that we do not give God the opportunity to tell us what the real solution is.  I cannot be mad at God for not helping me if I am more concerned with my solution than His solution for me.  Remember, if I am in the situation that needs help, then my solution must have been the wrong one.
7.   The doctor did not force me to listen to him and take his treatment, I willingly went to him.  God will not force himself on you, you must go and submit yourself to Him.  God did not force you to get saved, you had to accept that gift willingly.  His medicine is the same way…by a willing acceptance of His medicine.
8. He told me to avoid certain things and certain places that will make my condition “flare-up”.  The doctor told me to avoid the fields and woods where the allergens are in bloom and abound.  There are people, places, things, and ideas that we as christians need to avoid; or we will fall back into the same thing that made us sick.  Certain places, things, shows, music, people, and ideas that caused our problem should be avoided like the plague

  1. You nailed this one. It is really amazing how this does relate. Makes you think that there may be more in a box of tissues then we care to notice sometimes. Wonderful post CW.
