Weekday devotionals for Christians

The Road of Healing

Pro 3:7
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Pro 3:8
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Pro 4:22
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Psa 43:5
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

The following are spiritual things that were pointed out to me.   These are a good reminder of what happens to us when we are sick and sin-sick:

1. It took a process and time to get me to this miserable point.
2. I was taking medicine that worked at first, but now is no longer effective.
3. My condition got so bad that I am miserable.
4. I will not get better until I go to the Doctor.
5. I had to be totally honest with the doctor about what was going onin my life.
6. After I told him everything, I had to shut my mouth and listen to him.
7.   The doctor did not force me to listen to him and take his treatment, I willingly went to him.
8. He told me to avoid certain things and certain places that will make my condition “flare-up”.
9. The doctor did not heal me immediately, but instead gave me some medicine that will help me long term.

10.  I have to go back to the doctor again this week for more testing and help.
11. He will give me medicine on a consistent basis that will heal me and build up resistance in my body that will help long term.
12. I must take the medicine, no matter how bitter it tastes or how painful it will be.  God will not make you read your Bible, get counseling, pray, read good books, listen to good music, and more; you must take all of the medicine willingly even if you do not like it.
13. I must keep taking the medicine even if I feel like I am better.
Has the doctor ever told you to finish the antibiotics even if you feel ok?  There is a reason why he says that to you.  You may feel better, but your body is not 100% clear from that sickness.  It works the same way spiritually.  We must finish the entire medicine to become totally free of what was hindering us
14. He will give me “preventative medicine”.  This is to help my body to be strong enough to fight off future problems.  The Great Physician will give you “preventative medicine” to help you become a strong christian and stay strong.  This medicine is the most often overlooked and underrated medicine there is.  If we believe in preventative medicines enough to take them, we will be a far better christian for it!
15.  It will cost me something to go to the doctor.  I hate to realize it, but the doctor ain’t free…unless I have insurance. There is a price for me to go to the Great Physician…unless you have fire insurance.  Are you saved?  Is your home for eternity in Heaven?  It can be, the choice is up to you.
