Weekday devotionals for Christians

What Are You Doing This Week-end?

1Pe 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1Pe 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

In understanding what God really wants, I have to set aside my own personal thoughts.  This is very hard to do; seeing that I am stuck with myself.  What helps me though is the Word of God.  I am very guilty of trying to figure out what God would do, through my own perspective.  Have you ever been misunderstood?  I have and I hate it!  I usually get in trouble for something when I am misunderstood.  I can only imagine what God feels like when people like me try to figure Him out and then totally misunderstand what He does or is doing.  I can only imagine the frustration He feels when I do this.  God gets a “bad rap” a lot!  People think that God wants to “beat them down” when in reality, He wants to lift them up.

Many people buy the lie that God wants their life to be boring, and when they have fun, God is upset….WRONG!!!  Some people think that Satan and his crowd have all the fun…..WRONG!!!  This is the common misconception when it comes to Christ.  Satan will tell you what is easy to hear and easy to do; and what they don’t realize is that when sin is finished, it bringeth forth death.  God loves us so much that He tells us what will bless us “long term”.  It usually causes discomfort to do what God wants us to do, but if we do it, we will be blessed later.  Satan wants to devour you and me and wants to bring us low!  God wants us to do right and be humble.  When we humble ourselves in the sight of God, He always lifts us up!  Hey, we serve an Almighty God that loves us!  Satan didn’t die for anyone, only Jesus died for us.  Satan wants to “swoop-in” at the last second and deceive us with sinful fun.  God wants us to have fun after we obey Him.  Who will you believe, God or Satan?  What will you do this weekend?  Will you go to church and do right?  Or will you need someone to drive you home from your “fun”?
