Weekday devotionals for Christians

Finish Well

Gal 6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Gal 6:10  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Many people start down a path of doing good.  In fact, I believe most people start out with the plans of doing well before getting discouraged or weary.  I am reminded of a statement that I heard in a sermon years ago, “If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it”.  This statement challenges us to let God finish what He started.  Therefor, if we start something good then we should finish it.  I believe a lot of christians miss out on the finished blessing when they quit.

Notice the words: “In due season we shall reap”.  I am glad that that we have seasons.  To me, it is a sign that there are times of blessings for every person. The converse is also true.  There are times when it seems that blessings will never return, but never fear: If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.  In due season, we WILL reap if we faint not.  One way to guarantee no blessings is to quit before they come.  Hang in there and finish well.  The Cardinals were the last team in the play-offs and no one expected them to come back and win it all…but they did.  Last year the Green Bay Packers BARELY got in the play-offs…they are now the current Super Bowl Champions.

The end of your story is not controlled by someone else, it is controlled only by you and the Lord.  Will you finish well?
