Will You Give God A Chance?

Php 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Pro 18:24  A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Rom 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

I used these verses yesterday in a post to talk about God being your friend.  I want to go a different direction and plead with you to give God a chance in a few areas.  Many times God gets represented by the wrong people or individuals in areas that are very important to Him.  I want to show you what I believe are some of those areas that He gets misrepresented in:

1. Friendship-I mentioned this yesterday, so I will not take a long time to go through this.  I do want to say thought that God is a Spectacular Friend.  He is that friend that we all wish we had.  He is always there for us and is the Best Listener that you will ever meet.

2.  Goodness-God is good to us; too good to us!  He is far greater to me than I can ever imagine being to Him.  His goodness far surpasses my comprehension and my ability of recognition and appreciation for what He does.

Psa 68:19  Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

God gets a bad wrap here because people want to blame God for the craziness that they cause in their own life.  It is because of His Goodness that we have a second and third and forth chance, etc.

3. Fun-Most people think God is boring.  They are so wrong about this, it becomes embarrassing for them.  Think about the story of Jonah and the Whale. How did God choose to bring about the change in a backslidden preacher like Jonah?  He used  a whale to bring repentance!  Think about this, how did God get Jonah back on the shore?  He made the whale vomit!  Has anyone ever seen whale vomit?  I have not and I bet that no scientist has seen one either!  You cannot tell me that God is not funny, humorous, and likes to have fun!  Can you imagine if you were walking down the beach when that chunk of vomit hit the sand?  What if you were with your spouse?  That would be SOOOOO Funny!  Who knows, maybe it happened!  Will you Give God a chance at fun?

Fun does not involve sin.  The devil wants you to think so, but it does not!  God knows how to have fun that is pure and have fun that does not bring about regret or remorse!  That is the fun that I want!  Will You Give God A Chance?
