Weekday devotionals for Christians

Refuge and Dwelling

Psa 91:9  Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

Psa 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Verse 10 is exciting!  We that are striving to do more for Christ are seeing a lot happen around us.  We are seeing a lot of evil and plagues.  It can get very scary.  We as christians should take comfort in our Refuge and our Habitation.

Do you know what the best thing about Heaven will be for us?  Streets of Gold would be awesome to see!  Gates of Pearl, the angels, the beauty of a custom made city for us, and even a custom made mansion are some of the things that we will be able to enjoy; but those things will not be getting the most attention.  The thing that will be getting the most attention will be the One who brought us there.   The thing that will excite us the most is that Jesus is there!

Have you ever had a moment when the presence of God came upon you and it was so good that you were overwhelmed?  Maybe it was in church, in your devotions, or maybe even when you were listening to some Christ  honoring music; but when it happened…it happened!  When you and I have those moments, it is very amazing!  Now imagine having that moment all the time, not from the mansions or the streets; but from Jesus being there!  That is a little taste of Heaven!  OK, I just got way off the subject of verse 10, but I can’t help it sometimes!  Imagine a place of no evil, and no plagues.  While that may seem like a “pipe dream”, the Bible says that is what awaits those who make God their Refuge and Dwelling!
