Great Spoil!
Psalms 119:161-162
(161) SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
(162) I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
Have you ever accidentally come across something that has great value? When I was a young child, I found $20. It was Awesome! I thought I hit the jackpot! After I explained to my parents that I found it and where I found it, I got to enjoy it! I definitely rejoiced! The verses above convict me because David is saying that He rejoices at God’s Word as if it were a found treasure! I get convicted because there are times that my Bible reading happens because I make myself read it rather than wanting to read it. No matter if I want to read it or not, I should still read my Bible…and so should all of us.
Do you rejoice at God’s Word? I have found a lot of times that once I get started, I then get reminded by God how wonderful His Word really is and how much He loves you and me. Before I know it, I am loving it and I find myself not wanting to put it down. This also helps me to keep in perspective the things that I value. I should value God’s Word more than any spoil that I have or will receive.
Last Question: What do you value most in life? Not according to what you think, but rather according to what you do.
