Weekday devotionals for Christians

For Thou Art My Hope!

Psalms 71:1-8
(1) In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
(2) Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
(3) Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
(4) Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
(5) For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
(6) By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.
(7) I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
(8) Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

What do you hope in? Who do you hope in?

Psalms 20:6-8
(6) Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
(7) Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
(8) They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Remember Pharaoh and his horses and chariots?…these verses are referencing that.

God gives a warning on who the Christian should go to in their time of trouble:

Isaiah 31:1-3
(1) Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
(2) Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
(3) Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

These are some strong words for God’s people to remember. He is a Jealous God when we go to anyone else for help…especially the world. Egypt is a type of the world in the Bible and Pharaoh is a type of Satan. Let’s make sure that while we are utilizing every help possible, that we go to the Lord first and ask Him for His help.

When we go to God first, it shows us all that we trust in God ultimately and look to Him to lead, guide, and direct those in our life. I go to the doctor when I am sick, but before I go, I ask God to intervene and help the doctor to know what to do. You just might be surprised what God might do for you when you go to Him first! There have been several times that God fixed something or healed something before I even went to someone else!

Who do you trust in? God…the world…another human…other devices? Who do you go to first? Did you know that God wants to help you through this Covid-19 problem? Did you know that He already has the answer? He will supply all your needs, if you let Him. God Bless You!
