More Ideas When Your Normal Has Changed

Ephesians 5:15-17
(15) See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
(16) Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
(17) Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

2.Take advantage of the opportunity for Quality family time.

Similar to the first point, If you have children at home…or grandchildren, resist the urge to binge watch something on TV, smartphone, tablet, computer, etc. Have you made a statement like, “If I had more time with the kids, I would…”? This is a great opportunity to build memories, teach, train, or just have some fun time with them. If your children know some Bible stories, you can play a version of “would you rather” with different Bible characters or events, or happenings.

You might need to get creative, but it will be worth it when you look back on this time (assuming you took advantage of it).

  • Ask your kids to use their imagination in thinking up a game, activity, or idea to do in the house.
  • If your kids are small, play hide and go seek
  • If your kids are big, play treasure hunt and someone hide an item. They could even potentially give clues to the “treasure”.
  • Play a board game
  • Play dress up if you have girls
  • Have a tea party
  • Have a quiz show with prizes at the end for the winner.
  • Take a walk and give every one a set time to talk during that time.
  • Call up your parents and interview them about a historical event that they lived through.
  • There can be a lot of things that are possible, it just might take some imagination…
  • Check out pinterest…I hear that there are some good ideas on there
  • Bake something that is simple, but totally different…let your children pick an item for you to bake…get them involved with you while you bake…they will love it!
  • What things did I miss? What Ideas do you have ? Please share in the comments below.

      • -We are getting out old card and board games and playing them!
-We are talking more about each others lives and it is great to hear the things that are important to each person in our house!
-We are also taking advantage of the great weather by taking extra walks outside…which is also a good time to talk as well.
-We also like to frisbee golf. There are a few courses around. One is behind the library at Athens State University, another in front of Calhoun college(north of the college, by the airport). This is not too strenuous on the body, while also keeping good distance from others, and is good for walking as well! I had to wash out my eyes after we finished because of all of the pollen right now.
