This is For You, Jesus

Part 5 of What to do When Your Normal is Not Normal

5) Do one simple thing for someone else.

Matthew 25:37-40
(37) Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
(38) When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
(39) Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
(40) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Can you do 1 thing…just 1? Is there someone around you or that might cross your path that could really use just a little help or a little nudge? Maybe at the grocery store or behind you in the drive-thru that you could do something for? Maybe there is a sweet little lady that just needs 1 or 2 items from the store and she can’t get out. Could you help her?

One of the biggest dangers in this time of social distancing, is the helpless individuals who quietly suffer. Yes, they should probably ask, but it is a crazy time right now. Maybe you can get something and leave it at their door, on the porch, or at a location that you can drop it off.

I do not know who will read this today, but I will venture a guess and say that there is someone out there that has it worse than you. You could be a blessing to them. Here’s a thought!!!!!….share some toilet paper with them…if you can spare any.

I have found often that when I help others, I forget at how bad I really have it and it usually will cheer me up…atleast a little. Take the challenge, do 1 nice thing for someone today. It will give a reason to do something and be a blessing to someone else at the same time.

By Charles D. Meigs

Lord help me live from day to day
In such a self-forgetful way
That even when I kneel to pray
My prayer shall be for – Others.

Help me in all the work I do
To ever be sincere and true
And know that all I do for you
Must needs be done for – Others.

Let “Self” be crucified and slain
And buried deep; and all in vain
May efforts be to rise again
Unless to live for – Others.

And when my work on earth is done
And my new work in heaven’s begun
May I forget the crown I’ve won
While thinking still of – Others.

Others, Lord, yes others
Let this my motto be
Help me to live for others
That I may live like Thee.
