Weekday devotionals for Christians

9) Pray the Promises From God.

This is the final piece on how to live normal when life is not normal

I’ve saved the best for last.
Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.
*The longer I’m a Christian, the more I don’t feel right when I’m not close, daily in my relationship with Jesus.
*I love time with God. His promises alone help me to keep going on tough days. Here is one of my favorite passages is in Psalm:
Psalms 34:4-10
(4) I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
(5) They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
(6) This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
(7) The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
(8) O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
(9) O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
(10) The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

Prayer accomplishes many things.

  • It helps to replace worry and stress with faith and prayers.
  • It helps to remind us Who can take care of us.
  • It gives our minds and thoughts something to dwell on when stress takes over and tries to get us to doubt.
  • It helps us to obey many of God’s commands to pray.
  • It helps make us strong (through God) when we are weak.
  • It is that which prods us to stay close to God
  • It is the vehicle that we take to confess our sins to God.
  • It helps us to lead others by asking God to lead us, and in so doing, I can lead others… “follow me as I follow Christ”

Are you accomplishing anything while you have this time off? You can if you want to. All you have to do is to pray and start the process that God has designed to help us humans down here in doing His will….so go ahead, start today…take a few moments and tell God the things that are stressing you out, bothering you, worrying you. Then leave them in His hands and trust that He will take care of it…go ahead and try it…what do you have to lose?
