A Command Of Blessings

Genesis 1:26-31

(26)  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

(27)  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

(28)  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

(29)  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

(30)  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

(31)  And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

A Command of Blessings are given to Adam and Eve in verse 28.  What do I mean by commands of blessings?  Well, in verse 28, God gave commands to Adam and Eve.  Usually a command has a mean and negative implication to it.  The commands found in verse 28 only have blessings attached to them.  When God told them to be fruitful and multiply and replenish and subdue, those were commands that God gave to them that were desirable.  Keep in mind that these commands were given out before the fall of man and therefore there was not a curse on the ground.

To further explain it, I will say it this way: Imagine if God gave you a command to eat your favorite foods with your favorite drink, and when you are done; go and enjoy your favorite hobby!  That is a man’s dream come true!  For me, that is to watch football with a big juicy steak in front of me with a tall glass of ice cold Pepsi.  And when I finish, I am supposed to go and enjoy my favorite hobby!  Wow, what a good life God was giving to Adam and Eve!

I believe that God has been given a bad rap from people.  God has been blamed for things that He had nothing to do with.  God’s heart for His people can clearly be seen in the scriptures.  I believe the cause of Him being blamed for bad things are people who are not in the Word.  And because they are not in the Word, they miss out on God’s reminders of His original intentions for us.

Let me encourage you today to be the type of person who search the scriptures daily to see God’s heart.   John 5:39 says, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”  When we deprive ourselves of our daily bread from God’s Word, we then allow our lack of faith to blame God for the bad in our life.  If we really want to blame someone, we should go to Genesis 3 and see where Satan ruined all that was earthly good for us.  If you want to thank someone, thank God as you will see as he made coats of skin for Adam and Eve.  God might have to give out some justice which in turn will bring some form of heart ache, but His heart for us will always cause Him to be a part of the solution to our problems!  Just remember, God has given us a command of blessings.  We will enjoy some of that on this earth, but when we get to heaven, it will be totally amazing!

I hope you have a good day and a great week!

Not God’s Original Plan

Genesis 3:24
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Today we have a story, a story that has a great beginning and a horrible end. The end, I will point out, was not God’s original plan. We are picking up here at the tail end of the story. The reason why Adam and Eve are here is because of one word….SIN.  Adam and Eve are called the mother and father of all living. They had the perfect beginning.  Here in the next few devotionals, I will go through a few things that the Lord is pointing out to me in regards to His Original Plan. I hope this will be a blessing to you as I strive to paint a picture of God’s favor and God’s heart toward His favorite creation…man-kind.

The start of this story is found here:
Genesis 2:7-9
(7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
(8) And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
(9) And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
We have in this story, the start of human life. God, being infinite as He is, was already around. He created time. He was before all things and by Him all things consist. See the verses below:
Colossians 1:16-17
(16) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
(17) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
I can’t but help stopping here and brag on the Almighty! He was not created and He was not imagined up. No one carved Him out of wood, fashioned Him out of clay, formed Him from the dust of the ground, nor was He created from an explosion from billions of years ago that no one was around for, no one heard an explosion, saw an explosion, felt an explosion, or smelled the after effects of the explosion. What is this explosion? It is the mythical and outrageous theory (educated guess) that everything came from….yeah; kind of dumb sounding isn’t it? I agree, but I need to get back on the topic…
When God made man, He intended for man to have a perfect and personal relationship with Him in a very special place that God created for him after He finished creating the world. That place is the Garden of Eden. It was a special garden made in the eastward in Eden for Adam to live and work in. A place so special, that God’s presence could literally and physically walk with Adam there. Imagine that! Being able to physically walk with God in the Garden! Wow! What a special and amazing thing that God did just for Adam! That must have been an amazing place!
In this beginning part of the story, I want to point out what God’s original plan for man was: it was to live in an amazingly special place for His most precious and prized creation….Mankind! This was a special and perfect garden for man to dress and keep. In this garden, God was looking forward to spending quality time with the one to whom He loved.
I want to finish today and remind everybody that reads this, that God’s original plan for you and me is filled with amazing and special things that we can enjoy while we build a wonderful and indescribable relationship together with Him.  All that God wants from us is to have a relationship with Him that literally is the thing that keeps drawing us to Him. Just as He made a perfect garden for the perfect man, God wants us to get to know the Perfect God that He is! Even though we live in a sinful world, He has created perfect things for us to enjoy!
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
John 14:2-3
(2) In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
(3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

These are just 2 examples of the perfect things that God has for us! I want to finish today by saying that God loves you and He wants you to enjoy His perfect gifts that He has for you.
James 1:17-18
(17) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
(18) Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
Do not listen to the world or believe the lies of Satan. God LOVES YOU! God wants you to enjoy His perfects gifts! When you go through out your day today, know that you are loved by the only Wonderful and Almighty God! He is so good to us!

To be continued tomorrow…
