My God, My Champion!

Psa 5:11  But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Psa 5:12  For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

I love the ending of this chapter!  I love the actions that take place for those who put their trust in the Lord!  The Lord is doing three things for the righteous:

1. He is defending us.  Praise God!  Have you ever encountered someone who is stronger, tougher, and bigger than you?  No matter what you do, you cannot defeat him on your own?  Satan is that enemy.  I am also reminded of the story of David and Goliath.  Goliath was the Philistine’s Champion.  He was bigger and badder than all of those “big men” of Philistia.  King Saul was the champion for Israel.  He was head and shoulders above the men in Israel…yet, he was too afraid to go and fight Goliath.  He instead, allowed a little shepherd boy to go in his place.  Little is much when God is in it!  David, through God, killed the biggest and meanest man in the land…a little shepherd boy!  God does not need our help to defeat our enemies, we need Him!

2. He will bless us.  Are you at the place that you no longer need any blessings from God?  I am not there, and I don’t think I will ever get to the point to where I am not interested in God’s blessings!  No one can give you what God can!  No one can bless you the way God can!  No one can bestow honor on you the way God can!  I want God’s blessings!

3. He will gladly and lovingly compass us.  God takes pleasure in protecting us!  Verse 12 says that with FAVOUR He compasses us like a shield.  That means He encircles us with His love and protection.  No one can protect you like God!
