The Next Generation

Pro 7:1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
Pro 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
Pro 7:3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
Pro 7:4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
Pro 7:5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

Here we have the writer of Proverbs…Solomon, instructing his son to do some things in this chapter.  He is doing this to help keep his son away from the pitfalls of life…yes, a strange woman is a pitfall for a young man!  In order for his son to avoid pitfalls, he must first set some things in place in his life that would prevent the son from falling for the strange woman.  Our young ones will allow things and people in their life that do not deserve to be in their life and in doing so, they will fill the void that the wisdom would have and should have filled.  Our young people, for the most part, do not look down the road and see the “big picture”.  Therefor they do not make the wisest of choices, so they need mom and dad to tell them what they need.

-Question…what are you telling them?  Are you living for the next generation?  Are you passing down wisdom to the next generation?  The young ones will learn from someone, will it be you?   I hope so!
