Aim Higher…Jesus Wants It That Way

Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

I talked yesterday about what we are aiming at.  I really didn’t get into the reason why I chose these verses for these devotionals.  In verse 42, the thief on the cross was asking Jesus to remember him when Jesus goes to Heaven.  Jesus, seeing his faith, decided to take the thief’s request to another level.  He saw the thief’s faith in Him and told the thief that he would be with Him in Heaven!  Wow, what an upgrade!

The thief was aiming low and Jesus decided to take him higher!  I am feeling some conviction right now!  I am very much guilty of this through out my entire life.  I aimed lower than what I should have and in doing so, I limited God’s work in my life.  Do you know that God wants to challenge your faith in Him?  He wants you to stretch your capacity of faith in Him so that He can blow it up!  God is trying to show us that our faith in Him can never be too much!  I can never have too much faith in the Almighty, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  What can my feeble, little brain do to make the Almighty God nervous?  I know the answer….nothing!

When we start aiming at doing something for Christ, I believe Christ looks down at us and says “Is that all that you want to do?”  I think Christ would like to do more to us and through us if we just have enough faith to aim a little higher.  One more question, Where are you aiming at?

What are you aiming at?

Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

I am guilty!  I admit it and I take total blame for it!  I will not try to pass it off on someone else, nor will I try to blame someone else.  It is my fault and the only way it will change is if I let the Lord change it in me.  What am I talking about?  Where I am at is what I am talking about.

Have you ever been there?  Are you still lost as to what I am saying?  OK, I will fill in the blanks:

Most of my life, I have adopted the idea that I don’t deserve the best…and that I only deserve left-overs.  While it is true that I don’t deserve the best and because I am a sinner I deserve to die and go to hell, but my Jesus died for me to get the best.  It was hard for me to swallow the first time and sometimes I still struggle with the thought of getting the best for me.  Look at the verses below and you tell me what the Lord wants ALL OF US to get:

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God

Once we get saved from the punishment of our sin, God wants us to receive the best!  Whether or not we deserve it is no longer the point.  What God wants for us IS the point.  He wants us to have the (say it with me) PERFECT WILL OF GOD!  Period…end of statement…no arguments!  That is what God wants for all of us!  So what are you aiming at…to be continued tomorrow
